Mill Pond 5th Grade Orchestra
Valerie Clemans, Director
In the fifth grade, students meet two times per week during Activity Period; once for orchestra rehearsal and once for a group sectional lesson. The fifth grade string program is for students who are continuing from the fourth grade. Unfortunately we are not able to offer beginning string lessons in the fifth grade. Students who are new to Mill Pond in the fifth grade may enroll in the band and/or chorus.
The fifth grade orchestra gives several performances throughout the school year:
December, in-school concert for staff and students
March, String Fest evening performance for parents
May/June, in-school concert for staff and students, plus an evening concert for parents

Practice
Students need to practice regularly at home to reinforce old and new skills and prepare music for performances. In order to continue to make progress on their string instrument, we recommend that 5th graders practice for at least 15 minutes at least 4 times per week (for a total of 60+ minutes per week).
