Mill Pond 6th Grade Orchestra
Theresa Cleary, Director
In the sixth grade, students meet three times per week during Activity Period; twice for orchestra rehearsal and once for a group sectional lesson. The sixth grade string program is for students who are continuing from the fifth grade. Students who are new to Mill Pond in sixth grade but have previous string playing experience should speak to the orchestra director if they are interested in joining. New students with no prior string playing experience are welcome to join the band or chorus.
The sixth grade orchestra gives several performances throughout the school year:
December, in-school concert for staff and students
March, String Fest evening performance for parents
May/June, in-school concert for staff and students, plus an evening concert for parents

Practice
Students need to practice regularly at home to reinforce old and new skills and prepare music for performances. In order to continue to make progress on their string instrument, we recommend that 6th graders practice for at least 20 minutes at least 4 times per week (for a total of 80+ minutes per week).
